Ludhiana (Rajkumar Sathi). World Blood Donor’s Day was observed by the Dept. of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana. The theme of the day was “GIVE BLOOD, GIVE PLASMA, SHARE LIFE, SHARE OFTEN”. The day provides a special opportunity to celebrate and thank voluntary blood donors around the world for their gift of blood and has become a major focus for action towards achieving universal access to safe blood transfusion.

Three voluntary blood donation camps were organized in which 150 blood units were collected. Sh Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, lauded the efforts of the department.  Dr. Sandeep Puri, Principal appreciates the good gesture of the donors. He also said that their selfless and humanitarian act deserved the highest thanks and admiration of the community. Dr. Rajesh Kumar Professor encouraged people in good health to donate blood regularly, as often as possible and safely, to transform the quality of life for transfusion dependent patients and help to build a secure blood supply. Every single donation is a precious lifesaving gift and repeat donation is the key to building a safe and sustainable blood supply.
