Despite the rain, a large number of people turned up on the second day of the exhibition organized at Nehru Rose Garden;  PPCB Chairman Prof. (Dr.) Adarsh Pal Vig, Zonal Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Zone-D Jasdev Singh Sekhon and other personalities arrived; Organizations and people contributing to environmental protection were honored

Third Environment Conservation Fair – 2024 organized by NGO, Society for Conservation and Healing of Environment (SOCH) at local Nehru Rose Garden, giving the message of saving air, water and soil, appealing to the entire society to save the environment for the coming generations.  Happened.  On the last day of the fair, Punjab Pollution Control Board Chairman Prof.  (Dr.) Adarsh Pal Vig, Zonal Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Zone-D Jasdev Singh Sekhon and various personalities belonging to different sections of the society arrived and appreciated the efforts of the organization. NGO’s patron Saint Baba Gurmeet Singh Ji, Principal Dr. Balwinder Singh Lakhewali and Secretary Dr. Brij Mohan Bhardwaj said that the aim of NGO thinking is to inspire people to take care of natural resources and reconnect with them.  In this series, this fair is being organized in collaboration with different schools, colleges, universities, government and non-government organizations and private companies, so that we can make efforts together to save the environment for our future generations.  Science models were installed here by different schools, colleges, universities and social organizations.  Similarly, efforts were also made to spread awareness through cultural programs.  During this time, live workshops were also organized on vermicompost, bonsai etc., which gave people some options to solve the challenges related to the environment. He said that despite the rain today, the way people turned up in large numbers and showed enthusiasm for the efforts being made to save the environment is praiseworthy.  This has given our organization the courage to take its efforts further. Chairman of Punjab Pollution Control Board, Prof.  (Dr.) Adarsh Pal Vig said that the way the organization has brought together different environmental friendly organizations on one platform is praiseworthy.  Stalls set up especially regarding stubble management and alternatives to plastic also inspire people.  It is also beneficial for those people who, along with preserving the environment, are also looking for employment opportunities in it. Renowned Punjabi poet Padmashree Dr. Surjit Patar appealed to all the Punjabis on this occasion that we should follow the path shown by our Gurus and keep the air, water and earth clean. Zonal Commissioner of Municipal Corporation Zone-D Jasdev Singh Sekhon said that this fair organized by Soch NGO has received a lot of people.  In particular, along with the presentation of our heritage trees, their benefits have also been explained here.  Similarly, information has also been provided regarding the management of stubble and kitchen waste and the use of waste material for manufacturing different items. The objective of this fair is to highlight various aspects of environment conservation such as heritage tree planting, water conservation, soil conservation, organic home gardening, waste management, management and fertiliser, pollution free vehicles, reduction in air pollution, noise pollution, eco-friendly packaging, energy conservation, solar energy, healthy lifestyle products, coarse grains and human health etc. On this occasion, different organizations contributing to environmental protection were honored, in which Dera Baba Daya Ram Sports and Welfare Club Kotdharamu was honored with an amount of one lakh rupees under the Purana Jhiri (Gram Panchayat) Award.  Under the Jahaan Safai Wahan Khudai (Gram Panchayat) Award, Gram Panchayat Mohi Kalan, Patiala was awarded an amount of Rs 75 thousand.  Under the Wild Life Protection Award, workers engaged in the protection and rescue work of wild animals were given items worth Rs 50,000 such as torches, saddles, jackets, shoes etc. to help them in their work.  In Organic Farming (Individual Special), Gurmeet Singh, Bahawalpur, Patiala was honored with a prize money of Rs 50 thousand.  Under Terrace Garden (Individual Special), Maninderjit Kaur, Talwandi Chaudhary, Kapurthala was awarded a prize money of Rs 25,000. Whereas in the category of Government College for Green Campus, Government College, Punjab University Kadiyal, Dharamkot was awarded an amount of Rs 25 thousand.  Under the private college, Girls College, Jalandhar was awarded an amount of Rs 25 thousand.  Under the environment friendly model, in the government school category, first prize of Rs 10,000, second prize of Rs 8,000 and third prize of Rs 5,000 were given.  The first prize of Rs 10,000 in the category of private school under environment friendly model was given to DAV Public School, Pakkhowal Road, Ludhiana;  The second prize of Rs 8,000 was given to Police DAV Public School, Civil Lines, Ludhiana and the third prize of Rs 5,000 was given to BCM Model Senior Secondary School and Arya BCM Model Senior Secondary School. Similarly, the first prize of Rs 20 thousand under the short film for environmental protection was given to Dipanshu Jain of Ludhiana;  the second prize of Rs 15,000 was given to Piyush Dhingra of Ludhiana and the third prize of Rs 10,000 was given to Gurnoor Kaur and team. Whereas under photography on environment theme, the first prize of Rs 10,000 was given to Sanjeev Kumar of Amritsar: the second prize of Rs 8,000 was given to Arnav Dua of Ludhiana and the third prize of Rs 5,000 was given to Hardeep Singh of Saidpur, Mohali. On this occasion, among others, Dr. Manish Kapoor, Tanpreet Singh Sidhu, Tota Singh, Dr. Manmeet Manav, Eng.  Amarjeet Singh, Charandeep Singh, Rahul Kumar, Vikas Sharma, Mrs. Sarabjit Kaur, actor Shivendra Mahal, Raj Dhaliwal, Malkit Singh Roni, Karamjeet Anmol, Bharat Bhushan Verma, Mandy Gill were also present.
