The department of dietetics at DMCH took a sterling initiative to commemorate “National Nutrition Month” as well as “The Year of Millets” by coordinating an exhibit of recipes involving millets as a delectable, healthy alternative to enrich our daily routines. Present at the occasion were Sh Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, Sh Mukesh Verma, Treasurer, DMC&h Managing Society, Dr Sandeep Kaushal, Dean, Academics, Dr Sandeep Sharma, Medical Suptd, DMC&H and Dt Shaveta Batta, Chief Dietician, DMC&H. The aim of this exhibition was to educate and spread knowledge among the patient attendants about the variety of millets available to us and the diverse ways in which they can be incorporated into our regular diet.
Sh Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H lauded the efforts of the department and encouraged the attendants present to include the millets in their lives. Dt Shavwta Batta, Chief Dietician, DMC&H said Millets are a truly valuable health booster. They help lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels while being gluten-free, making them an ideal addition to anyone’s diet, especially people with celiac diseases or gluten sensitivities. The event included practical insights through the display of millets and their nutritional value, along with different recipes to elaborate on how we acquire countless nutritional benefits from millets. A personalised approach allowed attendees to understand the practical implementation of the nutritional guidelines. Patients and their families were given the opportunity to interact, ask questions, and clarify doubts, enhancing their comprehension and commitment to healthier lifestyles.
