Ludhiana (Raj kumar Sathi). On the occasion, cancer survivors gathered to spread awareness regarding the multifold aspects of cancer. The program was attended by Mr. Prem Gupta, secretary managing society DMCH, Dr. Sandeep Puri, principle DMCH, Dr Sandeep Sharma, medical suptd, Dr Sandeep Kaushal, Dean, Dr Punit A Pooni, Head, Dept of Pediatrics, and the survivors with their families. Sh Prem Kumar Gupta, Secretary, DMCH Managing Society, encouraged the cancer survivors and their families to not be afraid and be stay courageous and positive during their fight against Cancer. He also assured them that DMCH, with its team of experienced doctors and latest treatment facilities will provide them with best care for their speedy recovery. Dr Sandeep Puri, Principal, DMCH, commended the courage of young survivors to fight against such a disease, and also thanked the doctors for treating them with such care. He further encouraged the children to become doctors when they grow up so that they can help the future generations. Mrs. Rama Munjal, President, Arpita Cancer Society, stated that since 1999 the society has worked endlessly towards bridging the gap between children and their treatment by providing funds to middle & low income families. Since then, the society has helped over 180 children in their treatment and is now working on commencing phase 2 of their plan. She encourages everyone to spread the word that the doors of Arpita cancer society are open to everyone seeking aid and to come forward without a second thought. Dr Shruti Kakkar, Incharge, Pediatrics Oncology, talked about the growth of the dept from one single room to a facility to conduct advanced procedures like autologous bone marrow transplant. Various supporters and donors were felicitated during the event. NGOs namely Arpita Cancer Society, Rock foundation, Sanjha Foundation, Leukemia crusaders and Cankids-Kidscan. Various supporting departments were also felicitated by the guests. A talk was delivered by Dr. Paramjit Kaur, Director, Arya Samaj Group of school, Dr. Vineet Anand, consultant, Pediatric Hematology Oncology, Rotary Ambala Cancer and General Hospital and Dr Gursabeen, Asst. Prof, Clinical psychology, DMCH. A thank you note was given by Dr. Puneet.A.Pooni where she thanked the children and their parents to grace the occasion.
