Directs officers register every citizen complaint, advocates maximum resolution at Police station level
Ludhiana, April 27 (Rajkumar Sathi). Commissioner of Police Swapan Sharma, chairing a crime review meeting at Police Lines on Sunday, intensified the focus on dismantling the drug menace, apprehending proclaimed offenders (POs), and strengthening core policing. He directed officers to escalate efforts under the Yudh Nashya Viruddh campaign against drug peddlers, ensure swift arrests of POs in serious crimes, particularly under the NDPS Act, and enhance overall police responsiveness, warning of strict action against underperformance. The CP instructed Station House Officers (SHOs) to prioritize strict action against drug peddlers and maximize complaint redressal at police stations to boost efficiency and transparency. He emphasized that he personally monitors progress through weekly review meetings. He ordered heightened security and round-the-clock patrolling, particularly in high-footfall areas like shopping malls and markets, to make the police more effective and visible. Sharma further directed SHOs to compile and dispose of case properties in police stations through proper legal procedures. He also mandated registering every citizen complaint, with stern action against non-compliant officers, and urged officials to resolve pending cases in a result-oriented manner. To ensure accountability, CP Sharma also issued a stern warning to underperforming police personnel, stating that officers failing to meet targets in the Yudh Nashya Viruddh campaign, neglecting complaint registration, or showing laxity in apprehending POs would face severe consequences. He stressed that regular performance review would identify lapses, and no leniency would be shown to those undermining public safety or police efficiency.
