Hero DMC Heart Institute Welcomes International Cardiovascular Surgeons for Specialized Training

Ludhiana (Deepak Sathi). In a significant step towards international collaboration in healthcare, Hero DMC Heart Institute has opened its doors to a delegation of Cardiovascular Surgeons from Nepal. The focus of their visit is to undergo specialized training in Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (CABG) techniques, with a particular emphasis on the intricate procedure of Bilateral Internal Mammary Artery (IMA) CABG. This educational initiative marks a unique exchange of expertise between healthcare professionals, fostering a spirit of shared knowledge and innovation. The visiting surgeons aim to enhance their skills in CABG, a critical surgical procedure for patients with coronary artery disease. Sh. Bipin Gupta, Secretary, DMC&H Managing Society, commended the dedicated efforts of the HDHI team and praised the fruitful collaboration with the doctors from Gagan Lal Hospital in Nepal. He also expressed his satisfaction in sharing the wealth of knowledge and experience that the doctors at HDHI have with others to enhance healthcare provision. Dr. GS Wander, Principal, DMC&H, emphasized that HDHI has been performing CABG with this technique without any cut on legs for the past decade, accumulating experience from 6000 cases and previously training surgeons from Egypt, RML Lucknow and PGI Chandigarh. Dr. Sarju Ralhan, Chief Cardiac surgeon and lead instructor at Hero DMC Heart Institute, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. “We are thrilled to host our colleagues from Nepal and share insights into advanced CABG techniques, particularly the nuances of Bilateral IMA CABG. This collaborative learning environment benefits both sides, contributing to the global advancement of cardiovascular care.” The training program includes hands-on sessions, live surgeries, and interactive discussions, allowing the visiting surgeons to learn the latest tips and tricks in the field. This cross-cultural exchange not only improves surgical skills but also promotes a deeper understanding of diverse healthcare practices. The delegation from Nepal conveyed their gratitude for the warm welcome at Hero DMC Heart Institute. Dr. Naveen Chandra, Ganga Lal Hospital, Nepal stated, “We are honoured to be here and learn from the experienced team at HDHI. The expertise we gain during this training will undoubtedly have a positive impact on cardiac care in Nepal.”
